There is no better time for CNC Maintenance

CNC Machines are massively important to modern day manufacturing, offering levels of precision not previously possible. Thus, if a CNC Machine begins to breakdown or slowly becomes faulty then you realise action should have been taken sooner. So, don’t wait until it’s too late and call GM Diagnostics for your CNC Maintenance services.

Maintenance can mean a lot of things, and with GM Diagnostics the choice is on you. Under maintenance includes draining, cleaning, performance measuring, potential faults, settings, and how each part influences performance. In short, you have the choice of our frequent check-ups or a basic outline for you to follow instead.

Will the impact of CNC Maintenance be noticeable?

More so than any other machinery, CNC Maintenance revolves massively around measuring performance.  Admittedly, a lot of the basic daily checks can be done by you and will be. However, it will be the deep cleaning, the levelling, the draining and more in-depth inspection done by us.

The department where this impact will be felt the most will be the repairs, due to regular checks. This is due to the information being documented, so even the slightest fluctuation may suggest a fault. As a result of this, regular visits may mean that you can save loads fixing your equipment rather than buying new.

On the other hand, keeping logs or documentation of manufacturing equipment may help in other areas. Based off these you may decide to invest or not invest in similar equipment and certainly for repairs. With the most common being deciding on spare parts, as they can be costly!

How will CNC Maintenance actually help?

As mentioned, there are certain checks you should be doing at certain types on CNC machines. Firstly, starting as basic as checking the hydraulic pressure, cooling unit and fluids to see if they are operating consistently. A weekly cleaning of the filter within the control cabinet will allow for air to flow through for cooling.

Time span after this begins to change, depending on either months or hours based on use. After 500 hours of use or 3 months, ensure that the chains and conveyors have been greased. From the six month mark the coolant tank and radiator definitely need cleaning and the machine needs to be levelled.

Continuing on the six month mark, the hydraulic tank and lubrication unit need draining and cleaning. Either after 2000 hours or annually, have the headstock, spindles and cylinders inspected for alignment. Above all, run backlash programs on X and Z axes and adjusts as needed.

Who are GM Diagnostics?

GM Diagnostics have plenty of experience servicing different types of machinery and parts. In the Bolton and surrounding areas, we have earned a reputation for our professional workmanship. Not to mention the amount of machinery we have repaired down the years.
