Senior Engineer/Managing Directorgarymeekin@aol.com
Started the business in 2003 with no capital and just a few hand tools and loads of determination and energy.
Gary has been an engineer for 35 years and has a vast amount of experience spread over a wide range of engineering principles; having worked as a works engineer for one company for over 15 years, Gary became unsettled and frustrated so decided to make a go of it on his own.
With a hands on approach and an attitude of 'We don't see problems, we see opportunities for solutions', Gary leads by example.
Senior Engineer/Managing Director
Our first apprentice, George joined us in 2015 straight from school. With a fantastic set of GCSE results, he went straight into an advanced apprenticeship.
George spends 2 days per week at Wigan and Leigh college, studying all aspects of Electrical and Mechanical engineering. He also spends time, one day per week, in the office where he is slowly learning the ins and outs of the business. He spends the rest of the week shadowing Gary, either out on site or in our workshops.
Jordan has been with GMD since 2014 and spends most of his time blade changing Granulators & Shredders. His knowledge of the industry is ever growing and with the support he gets shadowing Jack and Gary, the skills that he is gaining will turn him into a fine engineer.
Jack has been Gary's right hand man since 2009. Having worked with Gary in previous employment, they have long history together.
Jack has spent a lot of years in the machine shop environment, servicing the locomotive industry in Bolton and his knowledge of Machining Principles is wide ranging. As well as site work, Jack runs the machine shop at GMD, with milling, turning and blade sharpening taking up most of his time.
Edward joined us in January 2016 aged 21. He will be attending college, studying the same advanced apprenticeship fellow apprentice George does, starting September 2016. He spends the rest of his time shadowing Jack in the workshop and Gary out on site, this way his knowledge and experience will be wide ranging and invaluable.
