At General Maintenance and Diagnostics Ltd, we are very proud to say that we are committed to strengthening our capacity long term with support from the apprenticeship scheme. We currently have two apprentices going through a multi-skilled electrical and mechanical engineering advanced apprenticeship. Firstly, George, followed by Edward. George started with us fresh from school in 2015, aged 16, studying all principles of Electrical and Mechanical engineering at Wigan & Leigh college. Edward started January 2016, aged 21, also studying all principles of Electrical and Mechanical engineering at Wigan & Leigh college.
Our apprentices have a healthy balance between training and learning in college, and hands on familiarisation and experience. We feel this gives them the best skill set and knowledge to develop into the best engineer that they can be, and also to succeed in an engineering environment.
With more senior engineers like Gary and Jack, we can ensure that our apprentices are receiving training and knowledge from some of the best in the business. With our apprentices shadowing these engineers, we can ensure that they are picking up the best habits and gaining knowledge from quality and experienced engineers at work.
